Top Japanese Publishers Announce Commitment to Xbox 360

TOKYO—Today at the Xbox® Summit 2005 in Tokyo, more than 50 of Japan's
elite game publishers pledged their support for the Xbox 360™ video
game and entertainment system, underscoring the momentum Microsoft®
Corp. is amassing behind the next-generation console. The games
announced today, to a standing-room-only audience, span a full range of
genres and include titles previously exclusive to other video game
systems. These next-generation games, including major franchises such
as Resident Evil and Ridge Racer, showcase the

New Xbox Live Bundles Announced
|
Microsoft® announced today that a new version of the 12 Month Xbox Live®
Starter Kit is now available in retail stores. The package, which
retails for $69.99, includes a 12-month Xbox Live subscription, an Xbox
Live Communicator Headset, a full version of the award-winning Project Gotham Racing® 2,
and casual games from Xbox Live Arcade. New Xbox Live gamers will enjoy
more than 300 games this holiday, along with more than 400 pieces of
downloadable game content.

Perfect Dark Novel Announced
|
Tor Books, the largest publisher of science fiction and fantasy books
in the world, announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with
Microsoft Game Studios® for the publishing rights to three novels based
on the world of Perfect Dark. The first novel available in October, Perfect Dark: Initial Vector, sets up the world of secret agent Joanna Dark, as gamers worldwide eagerly await the upcoming release of Perfect Dark Zero™. Peter Jackson to Executive Produce Halo Movie
|
Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox announced today that
triple-Academy Award winners Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will serve as
the executive producers of Halo®: Combat Evolved
for the big screen. The upcoming feature film will be based on the
phenomenally popular game for the Xbox® video game console from
Microsoft® and Bungie Studios. Jackson and Walsh will provide creative
counsel on all aspects of the film via their WingNut Films banner, and
Jackson's award-winning companies Weta Digital Ltd. and Weta Workshop
Ltd. will provide creatures, miniatures and visual effects for the
production. The Halo agreement marks the first time that
Jackson and Walsh have performed these services on a major studio film
that Jackson is not directing.
